“Aranmanai 4” is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language comedy horror film directed by Sundar C, co-written with Venkatt Ragavan and S. B. Ramadass. Produced by Khushbu Sundar’s Avni Cinemax and A. C. S. Arun Kumar’s Benzz Media (P) Ltd, the film stars Sundar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashii Khanna, Ramachandra Raju, Santhosh Prathap, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, and Delhi Ganesh. It is the fourth installment in the Aranmanai series, featuring music by Hiphop Tamizha, with E. Krishnasamy on cinematography and Fenny Oliver on editing. The plot begins in Northeast India, where a priest’s daughter is killed by a demon named Baak, who assumes her form. The priest traps Baak’s soul in a vessel, forcing it to permanently take his daughter’s place. The scene shifts to a village where Selvi and her family live. Following the mysterious deaths of her husband and herself, Selvi’s brother Saravanan, an advocate, arrives to investigate. He discovers a series of paranormal activities and realizes that the deaths are connected to Baak, who needs to sacrifice Selvi’s children and others sharing the same birthdate to regain its full strength. Saravanan, with the help of the village doctor Maya and the local police, sets out to stop Baak and protect his niece Shakthi.
The climax unfolds at a temple festival where Saravanan confronts Baak. Despite Baak’s attempts to claim Shakthi, a divine spirit intervenes, destroying Baak and restoring peace. Saravanan promises Maya to convert the palace into a hospital, ensuring continued service to the village. The film concludes with the spirit of Selvi watching over her children, signifying her eternal protection. “Aranmanai 4” combines elements of horror, comedy, and familial bonds, encapsulated in a supernatural narrative that resonates with the audience.
