Aavesham (transl. Excitement) is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language action comedy film directed by Jithu Madhavan and produced by Nazriya Nazim and Anwar Rasheed under Fahadh Faasil and Friends and Anwar Rasheed Entertainments. Starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead role, alongside Hipzster, Mithun Jai Shankar, Roshan Shanavas, and Sajin Gopu, with supporting roles by Midhutty and Mansoor Ali Khan, the film features music composed by Sushin Shyam, with cinematography and editing by Sameer Thahir and Vivek Harshan respectively. Aavesham was released on 11 April 2024 to critical acclaim, particularly for its direction, performances (notably Fahadh Faasil and Sajin Gopu), action sequences, cinematography, music, and technical aspects. The film became a blockbuster, grossing over ₹156 crores against a budget of ₹30 crores, making it the fourth highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, among other notable achievements.
The plot follows Aju, Bibi, and Shanthan, who arrive in Bangalore from Kerala to pursue aeronautical engineering at Vaana Veekshan College, opting for the freedom of the BK Hostel. Their initial enjoyment is disrupted by a confrontation with senior student Kutty, leading to a brutal beating and an eventual uneasy friendship. Seeking revenge, Aju leads his friends on a quest that brings them into the orbit of Ranga, a prominent gangster with a kind heart, who takes them under his wing. However, their association with Ranga spirals out of control, leading them into a world of high-octane chases, fights, and parties, impacting their studies and bringing them into conflict with Reddy, Ranga’s former boss.

The trio’s troubles culminate in a series of dramatic confrontations. After discovering a grim truth about Ranga’s past and realizing the negative impact of their association with him, they attempt to sever ties. This leads to a showdown with Reddy and his gang, which Ranga wins, but he is deeply hurt by the trio’s betrayal. In a final confrontation, Ranga lets them go with a warning to focus on their studies. Despite their best efforts, Aju and Bibi fail to pass all their exams, and they encounter a humorously punishing Ranga outside the college, now in a new all-black attire, signaling the film’s mix of action, comedy, and emotional drama.
