The film marks the final production by Dreamz Unlimited before its rebranding to Red Chillies Entertainment. Released on 13 June 2003, “Chalte Chalte” achieved commercial success, grossing ₹43.38 crore (US$5.4 million) worldwide. It received positive reviews for its theme, screenplay, soundtrack, and lead performances, though some noted its resemblance to the 2002 film “Saathiya,” which also starred Mukerji. The narrative begins in a bowling alley where friends are awaiting Salim’s arrival. When Deepak and his fiancée Sheetal join the group, a conversation about love leads to the recounting of Raj and Priya’s story. Raj Mathur, an engineering graduate and owner of a small trucking company, is carefree and unorganized. Priya Chopra, in contrast, is a successful fashion designer from a wealthy background. Their paths cross in a car accident, and despite initial friction, they become friends and eventually fall in love. Priya, initially engaged to Sameer, realizes her love for Raj and marries him after convincing her parents. The story then shifts to their life in Mumbai, where Raj struggles to meet Priya’s family’s expectations, leading to financial strain and marital discord.

As the couple’s relationship deteriorates, misunderstandings and accusations of infidelity arise, causing Priya to leave Raj. The climax unfolds with Raj racing to the airport to stop Priya from leaving for Greece. Despite their emotional turmoil, Priya decides to stay, believing that their dreams can only be fulfilled together. The film concludes with Raj and Priya reconciling, acknowledging that their love is expressed through playful arguments. “Chalte Chalte” thus portrays the complexities of love and marriage, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and understanding in overcoming life’s challenges.
