The film begins with an elderly man visiting a graveyard to lay flowers on a grave, only to hear the muffled sounds of someone struggling inside a nearby coffin. To his shock, he discovers a girl named Sonika buried alive. After rescuing her, he takes her to the hospital, where Police Inspector Anton Varghese instructs the doctor to inform him once she regains consciousness. An officer guarding Sonika’s room secretly alerts someone about her survival, leading to an attempt on her life, which she narrowly escapes. Sonika, who is revealed to be the oppressed mistress of a powerful political leader named Mandar Mhatre, finds herself in a perilous situation. Isolated and tortured by Mandar, she seeks solace in her college friend Akshay Bedi, with whom she falls in love. However, Mandar’s discovery of their relationship leads to a brutal attack on Akshay, resulting in his death and Sonika being buried alive.
Determined to seek revenge, Sonika embarks on a mission to dismantle Mandar’s life. After killing the police officer who tried to smother her, she documents her suffering in a journal and hides it in the car where Akshay’s body was disposed of. Sonika systematically targets Mandar’s men, killing those involved in Akshay’s murder. Despite her efforts to bring justice, Mandar manipulates the situation, framing Sonika for the murders and having her arrested. With the help of Inspector Anton, who sympathizes with her plight, Sonika escapes custody. She ultimately confronts Mandar, receiving unexpected assistance from Mandar’s wife, who turns against her husband upon learning the truth. Mandar meets his end at the hands of Sonika, who then goes into hiding with a new identity provided by Anton, ensuring her safety.
The film faced various challenges, including objections from the Indian censor boards regarding explicit content in the trailer and music videos. As a result, the producers edited specific portions to comply with the regulations. Additionally, comedian Kapil Sharma declined to promote the film on his TV show, citing its erotic thriller nature as unsuitable for his family audience. Despite these hurdles, the film garnered significant attention, with its trailer amassing over 7 million views within ten days of release. Notably, both lead actors underwent scuba diving training for their roles, and actress Sunny Leone was featured in an item song titled “Pink Lips,” adding to the film’s allure and intrigue.
